"Above all else, guard your heart" (Proverbs 4:23)

We usually hear this with a sense of "keep and eye on that heart of yours," in the way you'll warn a deputy watching over some dangerous outlaw, or a bad dog the neighbours let run. "Don't let him out of your sight." Having so long believed that our hearts are evil, we assume the warning is to keep us out of trouble. So we lock up our hearts and throw away the key, and then turn to get on with our living. But that isn't the spirit of the command at all. It doesn't say guard your heart because its criminal; it says guard your heart because it is the wellspring of your life, because it is a treasure, because everything else depends on it. How kind of God us this warning, like someone entrusting to a friend something precious to him, with the words: "Be careful with this - it means alot to me."

They just announced that from this Dec onwards, NS duration will be cut half a year. And those currently serving will get a rebate on the time they have left to serve. This translate to a 2 month earlier ORD for me...
But somehow, I'm numb about the news... I don't feel a thing. If anything, it spoils my plan of making a quick escape to Australia...

I'm stronger than this, I'm definitely stronger than this. How did that old proverb go? "Whatever doesn't kill you, only makes you stronger?"
Well, I certainly got close to being killed. My heart got run through... but I'd survive. I'm a survivor, I'm a warrior. This will only make me stronger.
Whatever happens, I will remain standing.

The Ranger Creed
Recognizing that I volunteered as a Ranger, fully knowing the hazards of my chosen profession, I will always endeavor to uphold the prestige, honor, and high esprit de corps of my Ranger Regiment.
Acknowledging the fact that a Ranger is a more elite soldier who arrives at the cutting edge of battle by land, sea, or air, I accept the fact that as a Ranger my country expects me to move farther, faster and fight harder than any other soldier.
Never shall I fail my comrades. I will always keep myself mentally alert, physically strong and morally straight and I will shoulder more than my share of the task whatever it may be. One-hundred-percent and then some.
Gallantly will I show the world that I am a specially selected and well-trained soldier. My courtesy to superior officers, neatness of dress and care of equipment shall set the example for others to follow.
Energetically will I meet the enemies of my country. I shall defeat them on the field of battle for I am better trained and will fight with all my might. Surrender is not a Ranger word. I will never leave a fallen comrade to fall into the hands of the enemy and under no circumstances will I ever embarrass my country.
Readily will I display the intestinal fortitude required to fight on to the Ranger objective and complete the mission though I be the lone survivor.

Had the opportunity to spend a day with Xuan, my sis/buddy. We were to catch the LOTR exhibition down at the Science Center but this foolish woman did not sleep for more than 24 hours! So we decided to head on down to 3rd Place instead to listen to some music cos I happened to know the Gen12 music mission team were having a gig so I brought her there for a listen and I'm sure its less taxing physically...
They were great, the songs were good. Not as polished as the Forerunner bands themselves but hey, these were students man. Got grads also lah, like Dorothea who gave a powerpacked performance. Huimin and Janice were also there and haha, between Huimin and myself, we concluded that the 3 leads that night were a bit like Fantasia (Grace), Diana (Dot) and the other guy who can sing on Idol (forgot name also) =P
Anyway, check Dotz out, you go gal~
